ABSTRACT

Within a relatively short time period, integrator transportation has become an essential part of the Intra-European transport system. As air transportation holds a key function in the Integrators’ time-guaranteed freight delivery services, their network design has to reflect a specific set of operational and infrastructure-related parameters. This chapter elaborates on the structure of the networks and the major providers’ different network strategies. Consequences for integrators’ choice of airports are drawn and an analysis of the main challenges of the changing European market environment is conducted.
