It goes without saying that there is not one single reality of life for all Uyghurs, and that Uyghur representations of Xinjiang realities depend on various factors: social background, education, religious orientation, gender, place and circumstances of living, and of course, the means chosen for expression. Literature is one way of presenting reality. How reality is perceived and presented is up to the writer, who may choose different point of views and different modes of expression.
