ABSTRACT

The other chapters in this volume have provided compelling arguments to reinforce the value of scaled worlds for training applications. Further, we have seen wonderful examples of these tools across a wide range of content areas. Continuing this theme, we would point out that no single performance area has adopted, or invested in, these technologies as deeply as has aviation. The simple reality is that scaled world applications are so well entrenched in this industry that it is almost impossible to consider a future without them. However, this acceptance, in no way, suggests that the many challenges in utilizing these technologies have been overcome. Indeed, the industry’s acceptance of this approach has made us aware of an entire host of additional challenges that must be confronted before these technologies can be utilized optimally.
