ABSTRACT

Research for a large-scale organization can be conducted in multiple ways. In determining how to best allocate research attention, there are two issues an organization must consider. First, the organization should identify the nature of the research question. Second, the organization should determine the best research method to answer the questions asked. Perhaps the Department of Defense (DoD) best exemplifies the wide range of both types of questions asked and various research methods used to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Also, the DoD might serve as the best example of how the focus of research has, and will, change as we enter a new millennium.
