ABSTRACT

In driver only operation (passenger) (DOO[P]) of passenger trains, the driver’s direct visual check that all train doors are clear, before moving out of the station, is currently carried out using platform mounted CCTV monitors, mirrors, or a physical look back along the length of the train. One TOC (train operating company) has introduced an in-cab CCTV system which involves fitting cameras to the side of the train and relaying the images into the drivers cab, see Figure 6.1.
