ABSTRACT
As a consequence of this Railtrack (now Network Rail) was required to review the supervisory arrangements for all UK signal boxes and to agree a clear policy regarding when and where supervisors should be employed. To that end a method was developed to assess the requirements for supervision in signal boxes and to identify those signal boxes that would most benefit from supervision.
