ABSTRACT
This chapter describes work conducted in response to a recommendation for a detailed workload assessment of two signalling panels (numbers 4 and 5) at Motherwell Signalling Centre (SC) during the night shift, 10th-11th May 2005. The recommendation, from a previous report (Stapley, 2002), was prompted by the proposed modification of the Cleghorn Automatic Half Barrier (AHB) Level Crossing (LX) on Panel 5, to a Manually Controlled Barrier (MCB) CCTV level crossing. The upgrade was necessitated by the high level of risk associated with the level crossing.
