ABSTRACT

The paradox of the millet seed is not the most elegant, but it is quite impressive. The technical points of the argument and the exact details about how they might negate the fact that there are many things are rather complicated. Zeno’s paradoxes reveal insoluble mathematical problems. In modern times, many mathematicians have tried to exploit the tools of the infinitesimal calculus, but, in any event, it is very unlikely that the final word has been pronounced for any one among the four paradoxes of motion. Zeno certainly belongs in the latter category. But the fact which is so utterly surprising about him is that his work, as the people now know it, is but a bunch of fascinating puzzles, which continue to captivate philosophers and mathematicians who still strive, and still fail, to attain the answer.
