Are there ‘Human Rights’ in Buddhism?

In the autumn of 1993 the Parliament of the World’s religions met in Chicago to determine whether a consensus on basic moral teachings could be found among the religions of the world. The meeting was attended by representatives of the major world religions as well as ethnic and other minority groups. representatives of many Buddhist schools, including Theravāda, Mahāyāna, Vajrayāna, and Zen were present and the main closing address was given by the Dalai lama in Grant Park on 4 September.
