ABSTRACT

Introduction Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) terminal air traffic controllers are responsible for sequencing and separating aircraft operating within approximately 40nm of the airport and below 10,000 ft. Terminal controllers work in terminal radar approach control (TRACON) facilities and control towers. Many TRACONs serve multiple airports and several serve multiple major airports and numerous towers, such as the consolidated facilities located in the New York, Potomac, and Southern California areas (FAA, 2002).
