ABSTRACT

The US Green movement has matured into an electorally-oriented party, has grown in membership, budget and electoral victories, and has begun to have an impact on national politics, particularly in the 2000 presidential election. Its presidential candidate fared less well in 2004, but the party continues to run state and local candidates, and plans to contest the presidency again in 2008. The Green Party of the United States has developed some of the characteristics of a professional electoral party. However, the party remains too small, and too poorly financed, to support a fully developed professional apparatus.
