ABSTRACT

This chapter represents part of my doctoral research on Serbian cinematography in the 1990s. My dissertation is investigating the question whether Serbian films of this period had the potential to criticize the socio-political regime of Slobodan Milosevic. I am examining films which dealt with the break-up of Yugoslavia, together with films which portrayed the consequences of the Milosevic regime for Serbian society-the consequences reaching into areas such as an increase of corruption, instability, violence, crime and disintegration of Serbian society in general.
