ABSTRACT

The technologies discussed in Section 2 (Identity Technologies) form a set of tools for building businesses based on digital identity and for using digital identity to deliver the products and services needed by governments, organizations and individuals. As this section (Identity in Business and Government) will highlight, the work going on across business and government to develop functioning identity management business implementations is coming from a number of different directions: we have not yet seen a single, universal ‘best’ model for these implementations emerge (nor do we have any reason to suspect that there is one). We are still in the stage of cross-fertilizing ideas between sectors, finding best practice and distilling its lessons, establishing potential value networks and identifying key positions for governments and businesses.
