ABSTRACT

The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (Nepad) is the latest in a long line of policy frameworks intended to place Africa on a path of sustainable growth and development. It is celebrated in the international community as a model for global partnership. It is also lauded for its vision of African ownership in design and implementation. Since Nepad’s ratification in 2001, researchers, African politicians, Group of Eight (G8) leaders and civil society actors alike have critically assessed its implications for postcolonial African development.
