ABSTRACT

Feminisme-Enjeux always sought to be rooted in the feminist movement. From 2009 to 2016, Feminisme-Enjeux created and produced seven Forum Theatre performances. Muriel Naessens wanted Feminisme-Enjeux’s actions to fit in the political and activist contexts of the time. Muriel and the actors saw themselves, for the most part, as activists, especially feminists, who utilized the methods of Theatre of the Oppressed. Muriel signed petitions, leaflets, and calls for demonstrations on behalf of the company, and always presented herself at public demonstrations as a member of both the Collectif national pour les droits des femmes and Feminisme-Enjeux. She thus avoided the questions of intersectionality and the performances being fixed in a specific social setting. Without a doubt, Muriel’s heirs, as the heirs of the work begun by Feminisme-Enjeux, are aware of the limitations that we experienced and are trying to overcome them through our actions and performances.
