ABSTRACT
Although environmental security has begun to come unto its own as an important branch of strategic studies, its application in the Arctic region remains very new and untested, especially in endeavours to link the environment, and specifically climate change and ice erosion, to evolving Arctic politics. Yet many connections between these two fields can now be observed in many parts of the Arctic, along with the involvement of non-Arctic states seeking a greater diplomatic and political role in the Far North.
