ABSTRACT

Sinead Jennings became a first-time Olympian at the age of 39 at the Rio 2016 Games. Sinead and her lightweight doubles partner Claire Lambe went onto to make history at the Games becoming the first ever Irish female crew to make an Olympic final. Sinead is a qualified pharmacist and medical doctor. Competing at the Olympic Games in 2016, and then performing in the final to get a sixth place finish with Claire Lambe, felt really satisfying – the culmination of a career in sport. Interestingly, while the process of returning to elite sport brought added pressures to motherhood such as balancing the demands of training and competition and travelling to camps and events.
