ABSTRACT

The student should prioritize her/his interests in and about research. Is prompt graduation critical? Is a particular type of research project a consideration? Are funding, type, and duration considerations influencing other decisions? Are relationships with advisor and committee considerations? Is there work going on in the department in which you might participate? Is there a project going on at your job that might make a decent research topic? Do you wish to make a large splash in your field? Are you using the conduct of this project to open other doors? Do you have an opportunity or need for funding that will influence your project? Is there something you just love or really want to know which can serve as a motivation for follow-through?
