ABSTRACT

All writers encounter “writing blocks/’ particularly those writing a thesis or dissertation. One way to overcome the problem is to break the work into small sections, such as chapters and, in turn, into sections of chapters. If a section is difficult to write, the student may find another topic to treat that feels easier to address. Another tip is to start writing as if one were explaining one’s work to a well-educated friend in a letter. The image of a familiar and sympathetic reader often facilitates the task.
