ABSTRACT

For many students in clinical or counseling psychology, the dissertation process is interrupted or delayed by the year-long internship taken after three or more years of doctoral study. The majority of students on internship find themselves relocating a great distance away from their graduate program (our record at the University of Hartford is a student who did an internship in Honolulu). This process is further complicated by the amount of time to move and settle in a new location, adjust to the demands of the internship, enjoy any holidays, look for a post-internship job, repack boxes, and relocate once again.
