ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book aims to integrate the latest work on conflict management and intercultural communication, and further provide a useful source of information for students, instructors, researchers and practitioners in intercultural or global communication and related areas. It focuses on two crucial aspects of the issue, namely, perspectives on the study of intercultural conflict management and conflict management in diverse cultural contexts. The book presents a dialogic approach to intercultural conflict by exploring how communication ethics works in the process of conflict management. It argues that building up a sound dialogic ethics is central to reaching conflict resolution and intercultural harmony. The book discusses conflict management from the organizational communication perspective. It analyzes intercultural conflict management in the context of international business. The book addresses intercultural conflict management from the perspective of interculturality.
