ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews what it means to be a project manager (PM). As the project management discipline integrates more with Artificial Intelligence, a PM’s true value will be in their ability to represent the human factor. The role will have to evolve because the tasks in which they spend their time may be done by a machine. PMs are always trying to squeeze more into a single day. As the first point of contact for anything project related, they must know what is going on in all aspects of their project at any given moment. As a PM, their function is to deliver concrete results in an ever-changing landscape. In a blog post, Rachel Burger provides a list that is not completely Project Management-centric but brought up a few additional important items applicable to PMs: Knowledge Management, Safety, and Fatigue.
