ABSTRACT
This chapter will help you understand what a case study is and why and when you might choose this methodology when doing research. It discusses the two ways that theory plays into case studies – that is, it is an input or an output – and how to choose the right approach for your topic. It then examines two basic case research designs – single and multiple cases – and gives pointers on how to select good sites to explore your research questions.
