ABSTRACT

Researchers commence their work with a research topic and a preliminary idea about how they will conduct the fieldwork. This may have been developed in a proposal, for example for doctoral study. In addressing research methodology and methods for conducting the fieldwork and writeup, post-rationalisation is conducted to fit the work to an acceptable structure and content. The extent of post-rationalisation will depend on the research methodologies employed. This chapter addresses the problems using an interpretative methodology, an inductive approach, case studies and units of analysis. We argue a flexible, iterative and agile approach accords with reality.
