The precise contrary effect is produces by commencing payments in a coin where the payees have the Batta to receive, and as the revenue payees continue at the option to make payments in the old coin until it disappears gradually from circulation which will not be for years to come they feel not the inconvenience of the Batta being against them in the Tale. But the public officers whose salaries were fixed by the act of Parliament would be entitled to claim the full batta of the intrinsic value, and if given to them, it could not be refused to other public servants and pensioners, whose allowances had been fixed in Sicca Rupees.
