ABSTRACT

The so-called 'overseas territories' that have not experienced decolonization, such as French Guiana, still colonized by France, allow for the exploration of unique points of view when it comes to postcolonial situations and social constructions of populations in the colonial context. French law operates in this overseas department, French Guiana, located on the north-eastern shoulder of South America. The town of Saint-Laurent du Maroni in French Guiana lies on the border with Suriname.
