ABSTRACT
Date palm ‘Tá_ri’ is rarely drunk, being popularly believed to cause rheumatism, but is extensively used in preparing sugar. A date palm is generally leased for seven anas a year.
This is a branch of one of the Nava_sákha castes, probably of the Káyath, as the family names are identical with those of its lower divisions, but it is regarded as impure.
