ABSTRACT

All Muhammadans keep domestic fowls, but no Hindu, unless of the very lowest caste, will do so. The Murghí-wáláh buys fowls, geese, and ducks at village fairs, and, when fattened, sells them in the towns. Muhammadans, again, are the only natives who make capons (Khaçiyá), hence the Hindus nickname such persons MásKá_ta, flesh-cutters, a name also applied to the Hajjám.
