ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews research on the migration and development nexus in French literature. This chapter discusses interactions between the international discourse on development and French literature. To do so, this chapter adopts a diachronic analysis from the early 1990s to the newest research on the matter. Hence, it shows how French literature has moved from a co-development perspective to a human development approach. The release of the Human Development Report by the UNDP in 2009, which focused on human development, has ushered in a paradigmatic shift in the migration and development nexus literature in France. Focusing on those who move, this report actively contributed to the construction of the specific French perspective which this chapter discusses.
