ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the most important messages and concerns the midwives wanted to be conveyed. It presents the statements that related to common themes, indexing the random number assigned to that participant, as well as key words that were common within the statements, and quotations that explained the main themes in detail. New themes emerged continuously; however, the main themes were those that appeared most commonly and consistently throughout the data set. The chapter aims to make the midwives' voices heard. A striking number of midwives had concerns for their colleagues' and their own mental health as a result of low staffing. The mental illness experienced by some midwives eventually manifested in physical illness. A large number of midwives referred to an unmanageable workload, reduced coping, and high levels of stress: Main concern is unsafe care for women.
