ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book works and situate it within its broader theoretical and geopolitical context. It growing network and share how we operate within and across these interdependent nodes. The book tells the story of the Freedom School node, one of the first initiatives NEAD established as they began the work of community transformation in Beechwood. It works at the Freedom Market and discuss how generative frictions experienced within the store setting have played a key role in animating change. The book describes how our network has grown to include work within local schools. Specifically, we document an evolving relationship with East High School. It approaches has offered neighborhood residents increased access to community engagement opportunities and, in so doing, has fostered a fertile context in which new nodes might emerge.
