ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the findings from the individual case studies are compared according to the following aspects: why and how the innovations react to policy gaps; their innovative elements (philosophy, approach, objectives, instruments, action/process of the intervention), barriers and limitations of the innovative policies/practices; and the effects of the practices as related to the above-mentioned innovative elements and the success factors, based in particular on the new assumptions of their effectiveness introduced on the theoretical level in Chapter 2. We build on the findings presented in seven case studies of the innovative practices (Chapters 3 to 9). The generalisations on their common features as well as on their contributions to social inclusion are presented. They are relevant not only for activation policies but also for other fields of social inclusion policies. Lastly, we discuss the influence of the specific national and local contexts regarding the role and impacts of the innovative policies/practices.
