ABSTRACT

The dynamic profession of educational therapy cultivates life-altering experiences for both the client and educational therapist. Educational therapists possess keen intuitive and empathic skills. Self-confidence, resiliency, curiosity, motivation, self-advocacy, and active learning are long-range psychoeducational goals that educational therapists strive for with their clients. Educational therapists tend to look at the strengths, weaknesses, and beyond to the contextual elements of particular case. Sometimes our relationship with a student and family is special in that we have good fortune to view their growth throughout their lifespan. Educational therapy and medical evaluation for attention deficit disorder (ADHD) were recommended. Today, Amy would be classified as a gifted student with learning issues, twice exceptional. Amy's supportive family bolstered her strong verbal abilities and motivation. Amy's parents, who were both professionals, came to our meeting, as per my instructions, well prepared with a copy of recent neuropsychological evaluation, previous end-of-year standardized test results, and samples of Amy's current writing, reading, and math classroom achievement.
