ABSTRACT

Since the early days of the World Wide Web and social networking, the Hispanic/LatinX community in the U.S. has engaged in and contributed to digital media. From the AOL chatrooms of the 1990s to the YouTube boom of the 2000s, Hispanics and Latinos continue to make their mark as social media influencers, entrepreneurs and consumers. This chapter provides an overview of the impact and influence that the Hispanic/LatinX community has on Internet marketing, social media, and the blogosphere—as well as highlighting some key players in this ever-evolving new media landscape.
