Japan's International Role: Past, Present, and Prospective

At the end of the millennium, in the 1990s, Japan is a major player, a large and important actor in many aspects of world affairs. Previous chapters shed light on Japan’s yearnings, record, roles, and rankings. This chapter reviews major points in those earlier chapters, attempts a summary of where Japan stands today, and presents a vision of positive possibilities and steps toward realizing the vision.
