ABSTRACT

Indonesia is one of the largest, most populous, and most diverse countries in the world. With a population of almost 230 million people, Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country. It is the most populous Islamic country in the world with more than 180 million Muslims, most of whom practice a moderate form of Islam, in contrast to more strident strains common in the Middle East. 1 The country consists of more than 17,000 islands strung out along the equator. Superimposed on a map of the United States, Indonesia would stretch from San Francisco to Bermuda and from Canada to Mexico.
