ABSTRACT
Taiwan has emerged as a major force in some aspects of the high-tech industry, especially in production. Annual production value of our information technology (IT)–related hardware products is more than US$200 billion (making Taiwan the third-largest producer in the world), and high-tech goods account for a substantial percent of all manufacturing output. Technology-related items are three-fifths of “Made in Taiwan” exports.
