ABSTRACT

Singapore’s response to the Asian financial crisis led many to recognize that internationalization is part of a strategy of resilience. Internationalizing the mindset of our own people makes Singapore adaptable in the global market, increases knowledge about Singapore as a unique society, and builds people-to-people goodwill. Furthermore, improving Singapore’s image is helpful and makes us more attractive to investment and foreign talent. Harnessing Singaporeans’ contributions to the home country—from wherever they live—has enormous potential.
