ABSTRACT
At the start of the third millennium, the prospect seems irresistible that globalization will take hold and transform Asia in the decades ahead. This is despite still-formidable conservative forces opposing the political, economic, social, and technological tsunamis wrenching the region open and driving revolutionary change.
