ABSTRACT
The possibility of a collision between the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Japan depends on a variety of factors. Foremost among these is China itself. Few observers would disagree that China is the single most important determinant of future international relations in the Asia-Pacific region in coming decades. What is more, both domestically and internationally, China's future is uncertain in many respects.
