ABSTRACT
In any discussion of post-Cold War Asia-Pacific regional security, the emergence of China as a modernized regional and potential global power inevitably arises. Indeed, the rise of a power that remains largely an enigma to most of its neighbors and the rest of the world has made the security equation in the region an uncertain one.
