ABSTRACT
The authors, in this chapter, focus on The United States Armed Forces and the use of distance education. Beginning with early examples, the chapter covers historical foundations during the ensuing years, and notes how military distance education has become a reliable method of bringing access to training and education for the men and women in uniformed and civilian service, anytime and anywhere it is needed. New initiatives in distributed learning, and program modernization, are discussed.
