ABSTRACT

“Supporting Teacher-Led Autism Spectrum Disorder Intervention: Problem-Solving Consultation” reviews the basics of problem-solving consultation (PSC) and discusses how our understanding of PSC has evolved over time. Core elements of contemporary PSC and the importance of intervention integrity within PSC are emphasized. The ways in which PSC has been applied to the needs of learners with ASD are reviewed, including models designed for specific types of collaboration, such as Individualized Education Plan (IEP) teams. The “Focus on Culture” section in this chapter gives examples of how culture can impact consultation, both on its own and in interaction with ASD symptoms.
