ABSTRACT
This chapter brings together the key messages of the book with regard to prison research processes, considering some of the significant challenges for the future of prison research, including the impacts of Covid-19, rising prison populations, privatisation and punitiveness. Following this, there are some positive developments considered: the growth in prison research and numbers of researchers and the development of a diverse prison research community; the increasing attention being given to the structural violence and inequalities that perpetuate incarceration; and the increasing diversity of prison research methods in use. It offers hope to future prison researchers!
