ABSTRACT

With 16 million American children living in poverty, and 54% unable to participate in formal preschool, there’s a critical need for free, engaging high-quality learning experiences that increase school readiness and provide children and caregivers with anywhere, anytime access. Reaching and supporting underserved children demands fresh approaches and innovative solutions that support parents and caregivers, to help narrow the achievement gap for America’s most vulnerable children. This need sits at the center of the early learning and media work that public media and Ready to Learn (RTL) are carrying out together through a unique combination of national transmedia development and local community outreach that engages families.
