ABSTRACT

A combined therapeutic approach and personalized cancer care by a multidisciplinary oncology team [1] result in the greatest advantages for patients; as regards local disease control, innovations in technology produce their best results only through constant application of updated knowledge and techniques in all medical specialties that are involved in the loco-regional treatment of cancer. Fellowship-trained surgeons with a high-volume practice are more likely to be focused on a particular disease process or group of operations, resulting in increased technical expertise and greater knowledge of the disease [2-4]. It is therefore crucial that surgeons are correctly trained in the specic oncologic principles of surgical oncology as well as in modern minimally invasive technologies.
