ABSTRACT

In early December, 2016, the author stood in silence, on the balcony of his/her hotel room on the east coast of Mexico. The first lens that the author placed on his/her camera was a hyperglobalizer optimistic lens, a term coined by Steger to refer to the neoliberal, globalist supporters of globalization. Pleased with his/her mastery of some basic photographic skills, the author cast another last glance at the photos of the Paradise that his/her camera had captured. The author had a sense of placelessness. To walk into the Mexican restaurant of the resort meant to have some Mexican food and listen to some Mexican music. The author went inside and sat down at a small table, close to a window that opened into the deep darkness of the night. The journey to the airport was long, during which he/she amused himself/herself by looking at the photos that his/her camera had captured over a week of staying at the resort.
