ABSTRACT
A common way of teaching grammar employs the seven clause patterns or sentence patterns in which technical terms such as Subject, Object, and Complement are used. Until now, each particular grammatical item is learnt or taught one by one with little or no understanding of how they are interrelated. In this traditional approach, the job of associating the items is left to each learner. This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book does not deal with side-street destinations such as punctuation, spelling, and the use of prepositions. It provides a set of practice reports and lesson plans for the English language classroom that incorporate Meaning-Order Approach to Pedagogical Grammar instruction. The book concludes with a message addressed to teachers and teacher trainers who people hope will find it most meaningful and beneficial, as this is a book by teachers, for teachers.
