ABSTRACT

The teachers in the 21st-century classrooms are characterized by students from different socioeconomic backgrounds, different abilities, and different learning styles. Students in the 21st-century classroom are engaged in active learning instead of passive listeners. This chapter delineates the need of reflective practice in the 21st-century classroom and focuses on various strategies that could be implemented to express reflective practice. It also explores how the different strategies assist in reflective practice and how a teacher can improve in future. The chapter emphasizes the need to consider the reflective practice of teachers as an essential component in an inclusive classroom. It looks at the meaning of reflection and reflective practice. Developing self-awareness is an essential tool for teachers and is the core in reflective practice. By developing more self-awareness on the part of teacher, transforms her/him into a lifelong learner and a researcher.
