ABSTRACT
The marked advance in the opportunities open for women to enter professions has received a great stimulus in the allotment of a salary of £1,000 a ye~r to Miss BU88, of the North London Collegiate School for Girls. This lady is well entitled to this splendid recognition of her abilities, as this wonderfully successful school was founded and throughout managed by her. The head mistress-ship of St. Paul's school is equally well endowed. A lady, formerly connected with the Queen's Institute, has been appointed head mistress of one of the English publio day schools for girls at £250 a year, and capitation on each pupil after the school numbers one hundred.
